In 2018 I had the privilege of living with John and Sarah Walakira and their family in a poor village in Kampala. I met hundreds of single mothers, children and others who all greeted me with great love and hope. I promised I would tell people about them. I always keep my promises...even if it takes awhile. 

Half of the proceeds from Simple Things - a Cookbook will be given to John and Sarah for their ministry, Clear Ministries of God, in helping people in their community, regardless of religious affiliation.  These monies will go towards helping the people of their church and community. The funds will be used to help pay school tuition for the Children whose Single Mothers cannot afford the tuition. The Funds will help these Single Mothers keep a roof over family's heads and start small, self-supporting businesses so they do not have to go to a foreign country for a few years to make $250 a month working round-the-clock. They do not need a lot of money. But they need a Little Help to break the Cycle of Poverty and Lack of Education. They WANT to be Self-Sufficient. These Mothers are All Heroes to Me. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM, as are John and Sarah. They are greater than any Superhero. They are Mama Bears, each of them. They would Sacrifice anything for their Children. Each of them Hopes their Children Can be Self-Sufficient and Not Live in Extreme Poverty. There is No Escape from Poverty in Uganda – Some levels are More Survivable than others.
